Lucasfilm confirms the release date of the seventh season of the popular Star Wars animated series, exclusively for the streaming platform.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the popular animated series based on the Star Wars Clone Wars, will premiere its seventh and final season on February 21 on the new Disney + streaming platform. This has been announced by both Lucasfilm and Disney, also sharing a first trailer and the official poster of this latest set of episodes.
Connection with Revenge of the Sith
Thus, one of the biggest attractions of this series finale is the connection between the Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith; so much so, that in the trailer itself we can see both Anakin and Padmé, the latter dressed as Natalie Portman in Episode III. In addition, the usual characters of the saga such as Obi-Wan, Ahsoka Tano or Darth Maul, one of the most remembered villains of the second film trilogy as a prequel will not be missing.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered in 2008 as an animated film to become shortly afterwards, also animated, unveiling new characters and becoming a reference work for many Star Wars fans. Recall that the first five seasons were broadcast on Cartoon Network between 2008 and 2013, while the sixth season could be seen on Netflix in 2014.
Now, Disney intends to put an end to the series with its last twelve episodes of weekly broadcast, becoming the shortest season of it; and is that after the successful premiere of The Mandalorian, Disney + continues to host the theme Star Wars through various formats such as the next real action series starring actor Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Disney + will be released in Spain and other European countries on March 24, at which time we can also see this last season of The Clone Wars.
