Street Fighter 5: Two Players Leave Capcom Pro Tour Top 8 for Lag

They left the tournament halfway, which was being held online, considering that their rival did not have an optimal connection. Complaints to the SF5 netcode have been constant since its release.

The Capcom Pro Tour, the official Street Fighter 5 circuit, finally started this year in an online version for the eastern part of the United States and with controversy. It was the first North American appointment on the circuit and, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was done online, something that predicted that there could be some problems after constant complaints to the netcode since the launch of the game and that Capcom has not been able to fully solve despite of the patches. The situation was serious, since two Top 8 players decided to leave due to the bad connection of their rival. iDom first and ElChakotay gave up following the set with MetroM citing the lag they had in their games. A serious wake-up call for the game and for Capcom.

The first to abandon was iDom, who in the midst of the fight with MetroM decided to disconnect because the connection was not stable. Commenters said the following: “Apparently they say MetroM is too laggy and can’t play.” “We understand that the result will go to MetroM,” they added. The player who left wrote on Twitter that he was not going to play with MetroM anymore, that he felt sorry for those who had previously won but that he only has three people on the blacklist – badly online – and one is MetroM.

Capcom pro tour 2020

Far from finishing, as if it were not serious enough that a Top 4 of the Capcom Pro Tour left in the middle, it was the turn of ElChakotay. After the second fight with MetroM, he left the lobby and said that he wished he would see what he looked like and played the game from his part, ironic with the fact that Capcom had banned the screen of The Grid -the one of the training- when it is precisely the one that helps mitigate frame drops and offers the best online experience possible in the game. In fact, iDom also complained about this ban in one of their tweets. Here you can see the moment when the player leaves.

MetroM finishes second

The player object of the controversy for his online evil, MetroM, thus reached the grand final where he faced DR Mandrake, who ended up winning the Capcom Pro Tour. His rival was second and the two players who disconnected finished third and fourth. It is important to claim that iDom is not just any player, but rather the winner of the Capcom Cup 2019 and therefore is automatically classified for the Capcom Cup 2020.
