Dotemu confirms the participation of 12 classic characters with their original pixel art look. We can change the background melody for those of other installments.

Streets of Rage 4 will go further when it comes to touching the nostalgic fiber of its fans. The game will incorporate 12 classic characters from the saga that can be unlocked during the journey and played in their original pixel art versions. Each of them will have their own set of moves and abilities from the installment where they initially appeared.

With these dozen faces incorporated, the number of final fighters amounts to a total of 17. Dotemu, the main people in charge of their development, affirm that the characters of the first Streets of Rage will be able to call the police when carrying out their special movements, while the belonging to the third work they can run and evade.

Axel Blaze, Skate and Max are just some of the examples that await us. We can change the background music for the original Streets of Rage and Streets of Rage 2.

Dotemu nuances the release date

Last April 8, Nintendo published in the main eShop the release date of Streets of Rage 4. According to what they prayed, their arrival would be very soon: next April 23. However, shortly afterwards, Dotemu herself clarified through Twitter that they had not yet decided when to launch it.

"We are aware that some of you have seen the date leaked this afternoon. Right now we can't confirm it yet, so we apologize for the confusion. We will keep you officially informed as soon as possible. Thank you all for your patience ”, they commented in a tweet. Therefore, the "very soon" poster was hanging again.

Streets of Rage 4 will arrive sometime in 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC at a recommended price of € 24.99. A physical version will be distributed through Limited Run Games, although it will not be available on all platforms: it will only be available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. In addition to the standard edition, a “classic” edition will be marketed that will carry, in addition to the game, a steelbook. On the other hand, the limited edition will include a custom Mega Drive box that fits all the boxes mentioned above, in addition to other items not yet revealed.
