The project, announced there by 2010, will not finally see the light despite having been so long in the pre-development process. It's official.
Strelka Stories is officially canceled. CyberConnect2, a Japanese editor specially linked to commissions for Bandai Namco, announced this project back in 2010 on the occasion of its fifteenth anniversary. However, since its announcement we could barely see some official arts and details that advanced where they wanted to go with the work.
Suspended: can be restarted in the future
CyberConnect2 was chaining projects, such as the famous Naturo Ultimate Ninja Storm saga and other games like Solatorobo: Red the Hunter; even now the expected Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, works that have prevented this title from being shaped.
To explain the situation, the Japanese study has published a video as a statement where Hiroshi Matsuyama, president of the company, clarifies that the project is canceled as a suspension: they do not work on it, it is not in their plans to continue with the project in the medium term, but it may be resumed in the future by resetting it from scratch. Unless that happens, Strelka Stories is canceled as we knew it.
Despite the duration of the video, at no time is the real reason for this decision, which is strictly due to business reasons. Until last June, according to the official website, CyberConnect2 had a total of 210 employees. It is known that they work on a virtual reality project and that, in addition to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, they were also working on a multiplatform game called Cecile, the end of a trilogy of titles called “the trilogy of revenge”, composed by Fuga , Tokyo Ogre Gate and the latter Cecile.
With regard to the expertise of Goku and company, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will go on sale in physical and digital format on January 17, 2020 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. On Sony and Microsoft consoles there will be a total of four editions: Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate and Collector.
