On the occasion of the launch of Kingdom Hearts Dark Road, the Japanese creative has published a message of thanks with some reflections.
Tetsuya Nomura, director and screenwriter of the Kingdom Hearts saga, has been accused of diluting the plot of his video games in projects aimed at different platforms. After the release of the third installment, perhaps there was some gullible who thought that the story of the main characters would not continue disaggregated into new spin-offs, but Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road was the first to dismiss that hypothesis. The Japanese creative, however, maintains that neither he nor his team said at any time that the story of their characters culminated in Kingdom Hearts 3.
“‘Although Dark Road is not part of the Dark Seeker saga, did not Kingdom Hearts end in Kingdom Hearts 3?'”. According to Nomura, he has come across many comments of this kind. For the Japanese designer, the answer is clear: “I have read comments of this type here and there, but I would like to say that we have never made any official announcement in this regard.” So no, Kingdom Hearts has some time left.

A story that had been in Nomura’s head for a long time
According to Nomura, the story of Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road is the story that he wanted to tell for a long time. “It never seemed to fit with what the development studio wanted to do, so I left it fallow. When the Union X team approached me to create another game with a new character, seeing that Xehanort has a large number of fans, we decided to do it, “he explains.
The protagonist of Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road is the Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts 3. In other words, the villain who enjoys his chess games. The story will reveal the characters that he came across during his journey and his journey, which will inevitably culminate in darkness. All in all, however, many additional events occurred, which will be explored in this new mobile video game. Kingdom Hears: Dark Road, available on Android and iOS, will be integrated into Kingdom Hearts Union X.
