TFT: all changes and news of patch 9.22

The game is suitable for Ascent of the Elements with multiple changes, since boards of different sizes and much more are added.

Ascent of the Elements has arrived, but Teamfight Tactics continues to update to balance all aspects of the game. After the premiere of patch 9.22, a new system of elementary hexagons, new champions, origins, classes and skills has been incorporated. Set 2 also includes a new qualifying season, so you will have to study the strategies if you want to qualify for victory.

As noted on the website, "the number of each champion in the base has been reduced to make team compositions centered on a mandatory champion more difficult, and thus open more paths to victory." But what are all the news that comes to TFT? Here are all the patch notes.

General Game Changes

Modifications are made to adapt to Ascent of the Elements. The size of the board is changed, so optimal formations can be articulated for any situation through additional decisions and options.

  • Board size: 3 lines of 7 hexagons ⇒ 4 lines of 7 hexagons.
  • Player damage: 3/3/3/4/5/6 ⇒ 2/3/4/5/6/7
  • The summoned units do not inflict damage on the player by themselves, but their summoner is considered alive if at least one of them survives the round.
  • Probabilities of occurrence by cost level (at level 8 of mini-legend): 15/20/35/22/8 ⇒ 15/20/35/24/6
  • When you choose a carousel champion, your mini-legend will no longer collide with your opponents

Changes to qualifiers

  • We deactivated the qualifiers during version 9.22, and will return with 9.23.
  • Being in 4th place or higher will never reduce PL. Being in 5th place or lower will never grant PL.
  • We are decreasing the number of places of challengers and great masters in many regions to ensure that the classifications of challengers and teachers have an adequate distribution of players.
  • Korea, Vietnam, China: 300 Challengers, 700 Great Masters.
  • EU West and North America: 200 Challengers, 500 Grand Masters.
  • All other regions: 50 Challengers, 100 Great Masters.

Changes to the champion base

Riot has announced that the number of each champion at the base is decreasing, so that it is more unlikely that several players will arm a similar team.

  • Level 1: 39 ⇒ 29
  • Level 2: 26 ⇒ 22
  • Level 3: 18 ⇒ 16
  • Level 4: 13 ⇒ 12
  • Level 5: 10

Mana Generation

  • 1-star champions: from 6 to 10 Mana per attack ⇒ 8 Mana per attack
  • 2-star champions: 10 Mana per attack
  • 3-star champions: 10 Mana per attack ⇒ 12 Mana per attack
  • Mana generated by taking damage reduced by 15%.

Object system

  • We slightly reduced the average gold value of rare orbs.
  • We slightly reduced the average gold value of rare orbs.
  • We reduced the rates of appearance of spatulas.
  • We reduced the chances of obtaining combined objects a little.
  • Dragons now give two common orbs in addition to the object they carry.
  • The Ancestral Dragon and the Crack Herald grant a common and a rare orb in addition to the item they carry.

Feature descriptions in the user interface

  • If a champion is part of a trait, his portrait and cost level will be included in the trait description.
  • Portraits of champions already active on the battlefield will be highlighted.

Error correction

  • The Red Improvement and Morellonomicon descriptions are now correct.
  • We fixed a bug in which the 3-star units of level 3 dealt damage more damage than expected to the players.
