The Batman wants Andy Serkis as Alfred and Colin Farrel as the Penguin

The movie by Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson continues to close their casting, which has already closed the characters of Enigma, Catwoman and Commissioner Gordon.

The new Batman movie, currently known as The Batman and scheduled for June 25, 2021, continues to close its casting and in recent hours we have known the names that are already negotiating its incorporation for the roles of Alfred and the Penguin. In the case of the first, Andy Serkis (Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Caesar in The Planet of the Apes) is chosen to play Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred Pennyworth. On the other hand, the "lord of crime" of Gotham seems destined to come to life by the hand of Colin Farrell (veteran we have seen in Escondidos in Bruges, Dumbo, Fantastic Animals, True Detective …).

Both are expected to make their commitment official in the coming days, taking over from such emblematic actors Michael Caine and Danny DeVito, who already gave life to Alfred and the Penguin in their day, respectively. In addition, the news confirms that finally Jonah Hill, which was valued to make the Penguin, has broken negotiations with Warner and been discarded.

Those who are already closed are, in addition to the director (Matt Reeves) and Batman (Robert Pattinson) are Enigma, Catwoman and Commissioner Gordon. The first will be played by Paul Dano (Wells of Ambition, Little Miss Sunshine, Love & Mercy), with the long shadow of Jim Carrey's version flying over the character. Selina Kyle passes from the hands of Anne Hathaway to those of Zoë Kravitz (Bigg Little Lies, Fantastic Beasts, Mad Max) and James Gordon will fall to those of Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, Broken Flowers, The Hunger Games), with the difficult task of making us forget Gary Oldman.

And Batman in video games?

Little else is known about the film, the project around which all the pampering and attention of the DC universe revolve right now. Filming is expected to begin in early 2020 and introduce us to a more detective Batman than we have seen so far on the big screen. What we may see before 2021 is the return of the character to the video games, because Warner Bros. Games Montreal, responsible for Batman: Arkham Origins, continue to leave clues about his next project, which seems to be related to the Dark Knight and whose plot It points to the Court of Owls, a criminal organization that aims to kill the famous superhero. Hence the name to which they do not stop pointing, Batman: Capture the Knight. Will we hear from him soon?
