One of the most important mobile tournaments is affected by COVID-19
Through a statement sent to us by the public relations agency of the Asian company, Garena, the developer of one of the most played games on mobile devices, cancels the Free Fire League Latin America 2020 for the coronavirus.
The statement dictates:
“We are very clear that the passion of our community is great and that they eagerly awaited the arrival of the final of the Free Fire League Latin America, an event that brought together the best players in the region, however, and due to the recent growth of damages that have occurred in Mexico and Latin America around COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the semifinals and finals of the Free Fire League Latin America 2020 destined to happen on March 21 and 22.
As we have previously mentioned, at Garena we are committed and prioritize above all the physical and mental well-being of all our athletes, spectators, partners and employees, so involving Garena players and staff, even in a closed-door event, does not it is recommended given the current health situation.
Our commitment will always be for the well-being of our community.
We thank all Free Fire fans in Latin America and the rest of the world for their support and understanding. ”
With this, one of the most famous tournaments in the region in terms of esports has been canceled, adding to the large number of events affected by the COVID-19, such as the EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series, which was suspended on last March 13.
