The Last of Us: Part II – Possible leak reveals parts of the story – Christians against LGBTQ? [Spoiler]

Playfront

So far, there is still a lot of uncertainty as to what ‘The Last of Us: Part II’ is really about. Naughty Dog has so far only promised a darker story than the original. A potential leak from Sony now ensures that at least the topic is described.

The corresponding post (via) has already been deleted by Sony, but if it is correct, the story is about the triangular relationship between Ellie, Jesse and Dina, and a cult to which homophobic Christians belong. All this at a time after the pandemic that brought the world to a standstill. The core theme is therefore anti-religious and pro-LGBTQ ideologies.

The male protagonists therefore move somewhat into the background and are written out of the game relatively early. In return, the female characters come to the fore and their struggle against Christian bigotry and the patriarchy. A transgender man and a mysterious woman are also mentioned in this context.

The LGBTQ people are therefore persecuted by the religious cultists who believe that they are responsible for the outbreak of Cordyceps Brain infection. Among them are also racists who kill everything and everyone who is not white or who can not be clearly assigned to any gender.

“The main story focuses on a briefly sparked lesbian romance between Ellie and Dina. This leads to a kind of love triangle between Dina’s ex-boyfriend Jesse, Dina and Ellie. It is only when Ellie and Dina share their first kiss and fall in love that a religious cult called Seraphites ruins everything. ”

The cult consists mainly of white men and some women who call themselves “the Lambs of God” and believe to be angels sent by God to cleanse the land from sin. Dissenters are considered “wolves”, are captured, hung up and eviscerated. Such a scene can also be seen in a trailer.

Sources close to Naughty Dog say that the story was largely inspired by LGBTQ members who are employed by Naughty Dog itself.

“It’s about tracking LGBTQ people throughout the story. Naughty Dog felt it was important to bring these issues to the fore with the rise of white supremacy and transphobia in the modern world. ”

The extent to which this information applies cannot be checked at the moment because Sony has removed the relevant post. Until then, you have to consider it a rumor.
