The series is a joint production of PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures, which will air through HBO.
Craig Mazin, creator of the Chernobyl series, will adapt The Last of Us to television. The exclusive has been published in The Hollywood Reporter, which also confirms Neil Druckmann, one of the parents of the video game, as part of the project. The information, officially confirmed by HBO, will also feature Carolyn Strauss as executive producer with Evan Wells, president of Naughty Dog. It is a joint production between Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions, the division that was set up to create cinematographic products based on video games.

Emotion among the creators
“Neil Druckmann is without a doubt the best screenwriter who works in video games, and The Last of Us is his great work. Having the opportunity to adapt this amazing piece of art has been a dream for me for years. I feel very honored to do it in collaboration with Neil, ”says Mazin.
"From the first time I sat down to chat with Craig, I was equally surprised by his narrative approach and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us," Druckmann said in a statement. “With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, horrid and emotional masterpiece. I can't think of anyone better for the story of The Last of Us to come alive on television. ”
On the other hand, the president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, Chris Parnell, has declared that it is “the first of many series” that they will try to develop with their “PlayStation Productions friends”. According to their words, they are "fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this team" to create the series. "The Last of Us is a brilliant achievement in plot and character development," he concludes.
The Last of Us Part 2 is the next videogame of the saga, which will go on sale next May 29 on PlayStation 4. There are still no details about the plot of the series, so it is not unknown if Ellie and Joel will be the main characters. What is clear is that both protagonists will be back in the sequel to the cult game of Naughty Dog, set in a world consumed by a strange evil that infects human beings and turns them into horrendous creatures.
