The Lord of the Rings: Gollum – character design will differ from that of the films

Playfront

At the announcement of 'The Lord of the Rings: Gollum' last year, quite a few certainly had an image of the protagonist that most people know from the films. However, as Daedalic now reveals, you have a lot of creative freedom here and do not necessarily have to orient yourself towards it.

In the current issue of EDGE Magazine, senior producer Kai Fiebig and CEO Carsten Fichtelmann talked about the game, according to which there were already concepts in which Gollum was portrayed like a monster out of the swamp.

"We don't want to displease people who only saw the films," said Fiebig. "In short, he doesn't look like Andy Serkis. We started with the person he was and then developed him further. You can see that he was something of a human before the ring corrupted him. We have more ways of telling stories than the movies have ever had, and it was very important for us to show a different kind of emotion. We need someone you can almost love and, on the other hand, someone you can really be afraid of. And trust me, at some point you will fear him. "

In addition to Gollum – of course – you also confirm that the Nazgûl will also have an appearance in the game that you can really look forward to.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released in 2021 for PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC.
