The Mandalorian and Watchmen series sweep Emmy nominations

The television awards for the best of the year are presented by all the nominees for the gala scheduled for September 20.

The United States Television Academy has announced all the Emmy nominees, to be held on September 20, with the best series selected in different categories. And between them they have dominated two proper names such as The Mandalorian, the real action series of Star Wars for Disney +, and Watchmen, the adaptation of the famous DC graphic novel for HBO.

Thus, The Mandalorian has achieved up to 15 nominations, including important categories such as Best Drama Series, Best Guest Actor for Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul, Far Cry 6) for episode 8 of the first season and Best Voice Performance for the director. Taika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok) for his role as the android IG-11, among others. The rest of the nominations are technological, such as special effects, photography or soundtrack.

For its part, Watchmen has obtained nothing more and nothing less than 26 nominations, thus becoming the series with the most nominations for the next edition of the 2020 Emmy Awards. Among them, Best Limited Series, Best Screenplay for a Limited Series, Best Leading Actor for Jeremy Irons, Best Leading Actress for Regina King, Best Supporting Actors for Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jovan Adepo and Louis Gossett Jr. or Best Supporting Actress for Jean Smart, in addition to numerous nominations for technical aspects of the series like special effects or photography.
