Ken Levine claims that people should not lose their jobs for expressing “stupid opinions”, and that Jews are not protected by such measures.
Gina Carano, one of the stars of The Mandalorian, the first live-action series set in the Star Wars universe, was fired by Lucasfilm after saying that being a Republican today is like being a Jew in the Nazi Holocaust. After publishing this type of message on social networks, Disney has decided to dispense with the interpreter, who has given life to Cara Dune in the first two seasons of the series. Ken Levine, creator of the Bioshock saga and of a Jewish family, has reacted to the news. From his point of view, it is not correct to fire a person for their opinions.
“My life has not improved. In my opinion, the Jewish people have not benefited or been protected by firing Gina Carano. People shouldn’t lose their jobs for expressing stupid opinions. And I don’t even watch The Mandalorian! ”He wrote on Twitter. Rami Ismail, head of Nuclear Throne, has responded directly to this comment and asked if he really thinks that it is not correct that a public person who acts, in a way, as a model for some viewers, has been dismissed after making comments from this draft.
You genuinely don’t think someone publicly comparing being “an anti-vaccination insurrectionist-president-supporter claiming fraud after a fair election” to being “a Holocaust target” might be grounds for removal from a role-model position in a entertainment production?

The Lucasfilm release
It has not been an isolated case. Gina Carano has published other messages on social networks that have generated controversy, but this has been the straw that broke the camel’s back. Lucasfilm has reacted with a public statement in which it confirms that Carano is “not currently employed” by the company, while stating that “there are no plans for her to be in the future.” The company assures that “its publications on social networks denigrating people for their cultural and religious identity are abominable and unacceptable.”
Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau work on various spin-offs of The Mandalorian. Rangers of the New Republic was one of the series in which the Cara Dune story could potentially have been developed. How it affects future plans remains to be seen.
