Stefano Sollima, director of the Call of Duty film, anticipates that Activision does not consider it a priority in its long-term business plan.

However, as recognized by the director of the film, Stefano Sollima – also behind the scenes in Sicario 2: Soldier -, this is now in an indefinite pause by decision of the company.
Uncertain future for the project
As Sollima acknowledges, in charge of the project since 2018, Activision Blizzard does not consider this film as a “business priority” right now, which is why this decision has been taken which does not mean that it never gets to see the light, but neither is it Of course when things are going to change.

This project has always been top secret in the company, being in fact the director who has been providing more details. At the time, he said he would have to "betray the structure of video games" to make a movie of a certain quality, stating that he would like to tell "the story of a single soldier, unlike most war stories."
