Playground Games takes the baton from Lionhead Studios to create an unpublished installment of this fantasy role-playing saga.
Anna Megill will be responsible for the narrative of the new Fable for Xbox Series X / S and PC, a title that was announced after years of rumors. This screenwriter has been one of the main writers for Control, the Remedy Entertainment video game, but she has also worked on Ubisoft Massive or on projects like Dishonored and other titles. “I am delighted to announce that I will start working on Playground Games next year,” she said on Twitter. “I will be the script manager for Fable.”
About this new delivery there are still not too many details. It was confirmed through a cinematic, so everything seems to indicate that there is still a lot of work ahead. Playground has formed a new creative studio to materialize the development, as the original developer, Lionhead Studios, was closed years ago by Microsoft. Peter Molyneux, creator of Fable, is also not in the ranks of the North American company today.

The return of a classic
Fable is a fantasy role-playing saga that was born on the first Xbox. The second and third installments saw the light on the next console, Xbox 360. Beyond the remasters and spin-offs, the saga has been completely fallow for years. Lionhead’s shutdown came at a strange time. Nobody on the team knew about it, since until the last moment, the official Twitter account published that it was about to conclude with the development of Fable Legends, a title that was canceled overnight with all the work done.
Xbox Game Studios has bet heavily on its own content. That is why it has promoted a strategy for the acquisition of studies. The purchase of all Bethesda studios in 2021 will further add to its portfolio of projects. Meanwhile, Perfect Dark will also be resurrected, this time from The Initiative.
