Intellectual property turns ten this year, which is why the Japanese company has recently opened a website.

Before PlatinumGames revitalized the franchise with a sequel, NieR debuted with a video game that has become a cult title. It came out in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox One generation, about a decade ago. Therefore, Square Enix has decided to open a web page to commemorate the birthday. What he has also done is to register the NieR brand in Japan, although nothing has been announced at this time.

Despite coinciding with the anniversary, a renewal of the brand does not imply that the company is working on a new project. Sometimes, it is done simply to make sure you keep the name of the intellectual property. Thus, until Square Enix is officially pronounced (if it does), the bells cannot be thrown on the fly. Anyway, the premiere of the web indicates, at least, that intellectual property has not been forgotten.

Unpublished games in Japan

NieR has never had a remaster, even when NieR: Automata went on sale. The original game was marketed in 2010, while the sequel came to light in 2017. There were other projects exclusive to the Japanese market, such as NieR: Replicant. Automata, an explosive and very fast hack and slash, is designed with the goal of the player repeating, exploring new paths and fitting all the narrative pieces through the gameplay.

PlatinumGames has other projects announced, one of them from Square Enix. Babylon's Fall was presented in a new trailer, specifically during the December State of Play. However, the title still has cooking time, as the same video pointed to the summer of 2020 as the time when we will know unpublished details about the production. Meanwhile, the team responsible for Metal Gear Rising and The Wonderful 101 works in Bayonetta 3, absent from the public eye since its presentation, at The Game Awards 2017.
