The Project xCloud beta will start in May in Spain

Microsoft opts for a closed and tiered access model that will work in different countries and that will help shape the future experience.

Microsoft's streaming video game service is preparing to land in Spain. It was already confirmed that several countries in Europe would have the option to enjoy the Project xCloud beta on Android, but the date had not yet been released, until now. Through a press release, the Redmond have announced that the testing process will begin in May for all those selected.

The players from Germany, France and the Netherlands will begin these days to receive their invitations, while those from Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Norway and Sweden will have to wait another week. The North American giant is aware of the situation experienced by the coronavirus epidemic, which has also forced technology companies to take measures so that the network does not collapse.

In this sense, Catherine Gluckstein, general manager and product manager of Project xCloud, has made it clear that they think they can launch the beta "responsibly" and staggered in the European area. "In partnership with the Azure team at Microsoft, we are actively monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on Internet performance in Western Europe and believe that we can responsibly start rolling out our preliminary release in a phased manner in the region."

Increasing increase of players in the test

According to Gluckstein, they will begin this journey in each of the countries and "with a small number of participants", which will increase as time passes "to avoid saturating the regional bandwidth". According to their words, they are "excited" that players have the opportunity to test the technology, which will "shape the future streaming game."

People who did not register in their day still have the option of obtaining access to the beta if they register on this website. The main requirements are to have a Microsoft account and an Xbox gamertag, as well as a phone or tablet with Android 6.0 or higher and Bluetooth 4.0. Another essential element is the Xbox One controller with Bluetooth and internet access via Wifi (5Ghz) or mobile data (10 Mbps download).
