The Witcher on Netflix: Season 2 will eliminate time jumps

The Witcher: everything we know about the second season

The second season of the popular series based on the skills of Geralt de Rivia will leave that narrative structure aside and will be more direct.

Season 2 of The Witcher series on Netflix will abandon the resort of time jumps seen in the first season. Lauren S. Hissrich, the showrunner and head of the series, has stated in a meeting with The Wrap that the expected continuation will cover a single timeline for the sake of production.

For the sake of plot coherence: they don’t want anyone to get lost

In Hissrich’s words, this new wave of episodes will focus on a single time axis, although they do not rule out the use of the mechanism of flashbacks and fastforwards; that is, jumps back and forth to give context to the story. Of course: always in the same chronology. In Season 1, meanwhile, there were different time lines where Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer were narrating different individual events until everything was taking shape together around the end.

“What we’re going to see in Season 2 is that all of our characters exist on the same timeline,” Hissrich begins. “However, what it will allow us to do with history is to play with time in different ways. We have to make flashbacks; we can flashforwards; We can integrate time in a completely different way than we couldn’t in Season 1. Because, as you can imagine, if we were on three different timelines and then moved forward or backward, we would have been on four, five or six timelines; Even I know that this is too much ”, she continues.

And it ends: “So, I think it will be much easier for the face audience. Apoder follow [la serie] and understand it, especially with the new audiences that are to come ”.

Season 2 of The Witcher will not arrive on Netflix until next year 2021. At the moment, its filming has already begun and will feature a Game of Thrones actor. The first season premiered at the end of 2019 and has garnered a resounding success in critics and audiences, ranking as the most successful series in the world during its months of broadcast.
