The Witcher resumes filming for season 2 after coronavirus hiatus

The film crew returns to work after the pause forced by the pandemic; The new episodes are expected to premiere in late 2021.

The current global crisis of the coronavirus and the numerous confinement situations to which many countries had to undergo forced all the large productions in full shooting to stop their activity during these last months throughout the globe, both films and series; One of them was Netflix’s The Witcher, which had to stop filming in mid-March, sending the entire team home until further notice. Well, it seems that things are beginning to normalize, since filming has already resumed in the last few hours as shared by those responsible.

Premiere scheduled for the second half of 2021

So much so, that a few days ago Lauren S. Hissrich, the showrunner of the series, already showed on social networks the new security measures for Covid-19 that were beginning to be carried out in the production of the series. Now it has been the director Stephen Surjik, who is mainly responsible for the new episodes of the second season, who has shared a photo on his Instagram account in which we can see a screen showing a countdown to the start of filming.

At the moment there is no official confirmation from Netflix, although we already know from the technical team that the adventures of Geralt de Rivia played by Henry Cavill continue for its season 2; Now, and after the break, it seems certain that the filming will last until well into 2021, since the filming of the first season lasted up to 6 months.

All this leads us to think that the second season of The Witcher on Netflix will not be released until the second half of 2021, most likely already in the fall or late next year.
