The game directed by Kamiya and created by Platinum Games for Wii U officially makes the leap to other platforms.

The Wonderful 101: Remastered has officially been released this Friday, May 22, on sale for PC, PS4 and Switch, a couple of days later than in the United States and after several users could enjoy it in advance due to the delay of the physical editions by the coronavirus. In this way, one of the most unique Wii U games, created by Platinum Games with Kamiya leading the way, reaches the general public with few technical innovations but playable additions resulting from the successful Kickstarter with which they financed part of the project. . The game is on sale for 44.99 euros in digital format, waiting for later physical versions.

One of the main elements is to make players' lives easier with some units that allow blocking and dodging and that are available from the beginning to have basic mechanics that were not so evident in the original game. In general, things have been made easier so that at the beginning we have important movements in its gameplay. Basically, as you see in the initial gameplay, we are recruiting characters to be able to launch more powerful attacks that have two ways of painting, or with the Switch touch screen as it was done in Wii U or with the right stick, something that was also available. Not having a second screen, we function as the Wii U off-TV mode, where with a button we can overlay the menu management screen.

Remaster or port? It is one of the questions that users have asked themselves the most when looking at the performance of the game on Switch, where even in some comparatives it is seen that the framerate does not work better. It is true that the technical advance is not present, in fact it suffers to maintain 60 frames per second at various times, and that we will have to wait for that free DLC for those who have financed the game in Kickstarter with 2D phases controlling Luka, but the title shows us something evident: it is perfectly controlled without the use of the Wii U tablet and it maintains the essence that we reminded you: a wonderful soundtrack, a unique gameplay and final bosses -that you have not seen yet in the video- of those that surprise.

The original, an 8 in Meristation

The Wonderful 101 got an 8 in Meristation, a game from which we highlight that it was "different and, why not say it, even rare", but it was appreciated as a proposal within an industry such as videogames. We also highlight his careful, surprising and solvent visual aspect in WiiU, and we define it as a genetic crossing "between the action of Bayonetta, the characters of Viewtiful Joe and the gameplay of Pikmin". We also highlight that the control of the GamePad became somewhat cumbersome, something that is no longer the case in this remaster, and, yes, it had a very prominent Kamiya touch.
