It is a film that will arrive in Japan in April 2021, although it is unknown if it will be released in western territory.
The World Ends with You returns to the present day, and not only because Square Enix has announced a completely new installment, which also, but because it has an anime film in the works. Although they had already presented several official trailers, a new video has just been shown, which you can see in this same news. Based on the original game, the film retains a character design very much in the style of Tetsuya Nomura, producer and artist of the title.
The film’s premiere is currently only confirmed for the Japanese market, which, as previously announced, will debut in April 2021. Meanwhile, nothing has been said about its possible arrival in other territories. Characters like Neku, Shiki Beat, Rhryme or Joshua will have to face unparalleled challenges, as they all play a macabre game in which they must not be eliminated. It is quite a battle against the forces of evil.
New game on the horizon
When Square Enix posted a countdown on the video game’s website, many fans wondered if the announcement of a sequel would finally come true. And yes, NEO: The World Ends with You was announced for Nintendo Switch and PS4. If there are no last minute changes (in times of covid-19 nobody knows), the expected return will occur in the summer of 2021 worldwide.
As in the original product, players will return to the Tokyo neighborhood of Shibuya, where they will have to participate in the game we referred to earlier. Rindo will be the main protagonist, so he must unravel all the secrets that are hidden. They promise an artistic style that will drink from the comic style, where the sights, sounds and urban culture will have their importance. This RPG also has a combat system focused on action, as well as all kinds of main and secondary missions.
