Two new Earth Defense Force launched

D3 Publisher has unveiled two new entries in the Earth Defense Force saga, a modest game saga that has spread worldwide to become a cult series that stands admirably well despite its modest budgets and technically fair games – albeit more than That, it should be said that they are rather unpolished, a sacrifice that is made in pursuit of ever more massive battles. Specifically, the company has presented two quite different and potentially interesting proposals: a new official installment, Earth Defense Force 6, which will be released in 2021 – platforms to be announced – and a spin off called World Brothers, which will be released in 2020 for PS4 and Switch.

We only have a few screenshots of the first, which more or less show us what you might expect: a soldier desperately battling hordes of aliens in the form of giant insects. The city in this case appears desolate, with many buildings in ruins, from what we understand that the glorious EDF is having serious difficulties to keep the land safe against the invading hosts. Its official page can be accessed here and there is no mention of platforms, so it is easy to assume, given that 2021, that there will surely be new generation machines involved.

World Brothers is an interesting bet and can result in something very striking. Using voxels and the premise of a “square earth”, this spin off seems to want to transfer the destructive orgy of the series to this technology, with which you can alter any element of the landscape, which could translate into spectacular settings where the confrontation with the aliens leave much more shocking footprints on terrains and stages. In this case, the launch will take place this same 2020 and there are two platforms announced: PS4 and Nintendo Switch, although there are still no trailers so we can get a better idea of ​​what they want to offer us. Surely there will be a long wait.
