Valorant, 0.49 Patch Notes: Changes and What's New

The online shooter from the creators of League of Legends continues to implement improvements beyond balance and bug fixes.

Riot Games has announced the full release notes for the 0.49 patch for Valorant for PC, which premiered weeks ago in its closed beta. The North American developer has announced the pillars on which this update will be based, which stands out especially for the arrival of the competitive mode, although it will be available soon, when the servers are stable enough. Improvements have also been made in spectator mode, such as the option to use "Ghost Shortcut" in custom games.

The multiplayer shooter from Riot Games makes changes to Omen, in order to make it easier to hunt him down, while also fixing map errors to avoid bugs and exploits. Of course, some general changes and bug fixes are not missing. All this is detailed in the patch notes, which you can see below these lines.

Valorant is still in the testing phase, so it is only possible to access by invitation, which is spread across the different streams dedicated to the video game.

Game and balance experience

  • Omen now becomes vulnerable immediately and no longer appears dark when he abandons his shadow alternate form.
  • If you came across an enemy Omen that was teleporting, it was sometimes difficult to determine when it was time to shoot if you wanted to kill it (and not send it back). This change is both to address an invulnerability bug and to increase the clarity of these interactions.
  • The attenuation radius of the sound Omen emits when arriving with From the Shadows has been reduced to 2250.
  • Attenuation is a word that sounds complicated, but what this change means is that now you will have to be closer to the location that Omen teleports to locate it thanks to the sound. This change is to compensate for the previous one since, if you manage to find it, you will have it much easier to eliminate it.

Map updates

  • Curtains have been added on top of Haven's double doors to prevent Sage from taking advantage of the Orb Barrier lift to see the other side through a small slit.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when Cypher's camera was placed in boxes in the main A zone in Haven.
  • Fixed various geometric bugs in Haven, Bind, and Split to eliminate exploits and help optimize the gaming experience. Thank you very much to all of you who helped us identify them! We don't forget about you.
  • Some materials in Bind and Haven have been updated to make the appearance of surfaces more consistent.
  • Radianite box color has been changed to homogenize overall visual appearance.

Competitive mode updates

  • Competitive mode and qualifier matchmaking system have been added – both features will be available soon.

Spectator mode

  • Added the "ghost shortcut" option in custom games that have shortcuts enabled. This feature allows you to fly all over the map in any direction and go through all obstacles.
  • Skill HUD is no longer displayed when accessing the drone camera in the spectator role.
  • Exiting the drone camera will now cause the viewer to return to the camera of the last player viewed if this is still a valid target.
  • Perspective shifts between players will now show all players on one team first before switching to the other.

Quality of life

  • Added the option to abandon custom games with more than one player. Using the "Quit game" button in the menu that opens when you press ESC will allow you to quit the game permanently and without penalty. Leaving a game customizes in any other way (such as closing the client or pressing ALT + F4) will allow you to rejoin it later.
  • The sound occlusion system has been improved to make it easier to identify the distance of sounds. For example, in Haven, when listening to sounds from B in nearby A, they should be perceived as being at the correct distance and not as being emitted right next door.
  • Players who leave paired games or do not select an agent will receive penalties that prevent them from rejoining the queue for a period of time. Repeat players will receive increasingly longer penalties. Leaving games spoils everyone else's experience and is something that should be avoided unless there is no other choice.
  • Players online at VALORANT can now be viewed from Riot Games clients.
  • Queue buttons have been moved to group rooms to improve the flow of the user experience.
  • The space available to the social panel has been increased.
  • Certain elements of the end of game screen have been polished.
  • The chat disconnect error message has been adjusted to make it less … intimidating.
  • The center point of the crosshair of all shotguns has been moved one pixel so that it is in the center of the screen. As a result, we expect these weapons to become 4000% more lethal (just kidding).

Game bug fixes

  • (Phoenix) Fixed a bug that caused Phoenix to teleport to a climbing rope when it reappeared if it had died with Ashes active and was using a rope at the time.
  • (Phoenix) Fixed a bug that caused damage to Phoenix for a few moments after the Ash effect was over where it reappeared.
  • (Viper) The Viper Toxic Screen appearance on the minimap has been updated to show gaps in the wall.
  • (Viper) Fixed a bug that allowed Viper to cancel the Viper's Pit animation.
  • The announcer's "Spike placed" comment will no longer play after a round has ended above the end of round announcement, which should serve to clearly indicate the results of the rounds in which the Spike is placed after that time is up.
  • Fixed an issue where the "Assassinated Spike Bearer" message was displayed at the same time as the "Ally Deactivating Spike" message.
  • Fixed a rare bug that caused players' weapons to float in front of them. That bad roll.
  • Fixed a rare bug that caused third-party player models to not sync correctly with the server when they started the Spike deactivation process multiple times and were difficult to shoot.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some players with low mouse sensitivity to experience irregularities in mouse movement when aiming.
  • Fixed an issue where canceling Spike Placement or Orb Pickup sometimes played the wrong (slower) gear animation, making it appear that players were able to fire too quickly after canceling it (the delay was correct, but the animation did not match).
  • Fixed a bug that caused map region names to not appear in the correct language.
  • Bucky's alternate firing mode has been updated, now applying damage instantly.
  • The alternative firing mode was previously a projectile that allowed to kill enemies shortly after the person firing it had been killed. There is no other weapon in the game that works like this, so it has been changed to the instant impact mode (hitscan).

Bug fixes in the game client

  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to purchase items that were not available in their stores.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to match items they didn't own.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed screen settings to be applied again when joining and leaving games, which could scroll the window or change the game display mode on some occasions.
  • Collision movement between players has been smoothed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Network Stability Indicator to appear even though it was disabled.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Spike to get stuck inside objects at some points on the maps.
  • It is no longer necessary to have the Spike within the field of vision to pick it up if another player is in the middle.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Spike to sometimes be unable to recover.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented some player reports from being submitted.
  • Fixed several voice chat related connection errors.
  • Fixed several connection errors related to text chat.
  • Fixed various bugs that caused the player status displayed on the social dashboard to be incorrect.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented some players from re-queuing without closing and logging in again.
  • Fixed bugs that occurred when receiving group invitations.
  • Fixed a bug that caused player cards to become transparent in custom game rooms.
  • Fixed a bug that reversed changes to voice chat settings.
  • Fixed a bug that caused automatic voice transmission to activate by default in custom games.
  • Fixed a bug that caused voice streaming to be interrupted when navigating through options in a custom game.
  • Fixed a number of language errors on menu screens.
