Valorant Episode 2: 2.03 patch notes, agents, weapons, game modes and more

Competitive shooter Riot Games continues to offer quality updates and improvements; these are all changes.

Valorant launches a new game mode. As previously announced by Riot Games, the shooter will receive Arms Race, a modality that debuts with patch 2.03, whose contents have already been revealed. When starting one of these games, the game will randomly generate a group of 12 weapons and abilities, which must be shared between the two teams. Players will start with the lowest lethality weapons, and then progressively improve based on what happens in the game.

Here are the main new features of patch 2.03, which affects agents, game modes, quality improvements, etc.

Agents update

Queen

  • The number of maximum charges for the Devour (Q) and Contempt (E) abilities reduced from 4 to 2
  • Devour and Despise cost increased from 100 to 200.
  • Enemies who die within 3 seconds after Reyna’s attack drop Soul Orbs, even if the character doesn’t get the kill.

Yoru

Infiltration (E)

  • In the current build, the range within which enemies can view the Infiltration link when hovering appears on the minimap.

  • The range by which enemies hear Infiltration sounds when teleporting is also displayed on the minimap.

Interdimensional travel (X)

  • Yoru’s minimap now appears during Interdimensional Travel.

  • Enemies within Yoru’s vision range while using Interdimensional Travel are listed on the allies minimap.

  • Interdimensional Travel no longer blocks enemies.

Brimstone

Incendiary (Q)

  • Incendiary’s fire trail sound effects are heard more clearly, even when other sounds are playing in the background.

Phoenix

Combustion (E)

  • Combustion fire trail sound effects are heard more clearly, even when other sounds are playing in the background.

Weapon upgrades

Marshal

  • Movement speed when zooming is increased by 90% from non-zooming speed (previously 76%).

  • The price is reduced from 1100 to 1000.

  • Increase the zoom magnification from 2.5x to 3.5x.

Stinger (automatic firing)

  • The price increases from 1000 to 1100.

  • The firing rate of the automatic shooting mode is reduced from 18 to 16.

  • Automatic firing mode reaches maximum dispersion with the fourth bullet, instead of the sixth.

  • Adjusted the vertical recoil curve for the automatic fire mode, which progresses faster after the third bullet.

Stinger (burst shot)

  • Vertical recoil has been adjusted to be more noticeable after the first burst.

  • The margin of error in successive bursts is increased.

  • Recovery time in burst shooting mode is reduced from 0.45 to 0.4.

Frenzy

  • The price is increased from 400 to 500.

Game mode updates

  • Arms Race mode added!

Competitive mode updates

  • Penalty of 8 rank points in case of inactivity for long periods of time in competitive games (6 or more rounds).

  • Act Rank Emblems will now take into account the highest level victory (instead of number nine).

Quality improvements

  • The graffiti are destroyed at the beginning of the round.

Improvements and updates for the death sequence

Effects time:

  • The time it takes for the fade to black to begin has been reduced: 1.75 seconds after dying to 1.5 seconds after dying.
  • Increase the duration time of the black screen: 0 s approx. >>> 0.25 s.
  • The total time of the kill sequence has not changed, it will continue to last 2.75 seconds.

Camera shake has been noticeably smoothed out, especially for those with a poor network connection.

  • Before version 2.03, the camera could shake during the death sequence of any of the players (especially those with high ping or packet loss).
  • Investigating this issue, it was found that camera shake had no impact on combat performance. Anyone who had this problem was already dead when this movement was so little fluid.
  • Now everyone, regardless of their network connections, will enjoy smooth camera movement during the kill sequence.

Mistakes

  • 16 bugs have been fixed in this version.
