Valorant Nerfs Raze in Closed Beta Update 0.47

In addition to the tweaks that have been made to Raze, melee attacks have also been improved, and shooting cameras have been removed.

The new multiplayer shooter from Riot Games for PC, Valorant, has started thanks to its closed beta, available to all those who obtain one of the keys distributed in streaming dedicated to the video game. The North American company has just unveiled the 0.47 patch notes, a brief update that focuses primarily on balancing Raze. According to Riot, although they believe that over time "the most skilled players will stop having problems against her", they have made "minor adjustments" with the aim of adapting the "pressure that they exert at the level of the other agents".

The developers also confirm that they have touched melee attacks and improved them to be able to "deal with the Sage Barrier Orb in the early rounds", all while remaining a risk. Furthermore, the Slow Orb will also apply to jumping enemies from now on. Valorant will drop cameras capable of shooting and remove them from the title. Here are the patch notes:

Valorant

Game and balance experience

Melee attacks now deal double damage on impact to destructible items, including:

  • Sage's Barrier Orb.
  • Haven's metal double doors.

That because?

  • The saving rounds (like the first one or the one after switching sides) didn't offer enough options to deal with Sage's Barrier Orb. Our intention is to provide a method to destroy the risky wall, with a high reward and that does not depend on the equipment that you have at the moment.

Raze

  • The number of Paint Bullets has been reduced from 2 to 1.
  • Paint Bullets cooldown now resets when getting 2 kills.
  • Sound effects have been adjusted for Paintballs, Blast Bundle, and Gliderlock to make them easier to detect even when many things are happening at once.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the second cluster of Paintballs to explode faster than it should. They now have a minimum wait time before exploding.

And what is that for?

  • Raze is supposed to be a dangerous duelist who punishes enemies waiting in predictable positions, but the operation of the Cluster Grenades and the amount she had available made it a little more oppressive than expected. Also, we believe that players should receive accurate information about the game at all times, and the sounds of Raze's abilities did not reflect the threat they pose, so we've changed them. For example, when Clanratelones equips or fires from afar, you should now be able to identify and interpret what's happening without issue.

Sage

  • Slow Orb now also reduces movement speed of airborne enemies.
  • It is now possible to walk through the Slow Orb without making a noise.

And because?

  • Countering Sage's Slow Orb was too easy: you just had to jump continuously to advance through the area. We want the minimum slowdown to be more consistent throughout the affected area, but that jumping and walking continue to offer a small advantage when moving forward. Also, we think that adding a quiet but slow way of moving around the affected area gives a little more depth to the interaction and is less safe for Sage, as he will not always listen to people crossing.

Map updates

  • Various vulnerabilities in Bind, Haven and Split have been fixed.
  • Split: Orb moved from middle B to main B.

With this, we want to ease the pressure on the environment a bit and offer more incentives to control the main B zone.

Quality of life

  • Outbound network traffic generated by the client has been reduced in configurations with a high number of frames per second.
  • Some internet providers and network configurations were jamming game traffic, impacting the experience and leading to spikes in lag as the number of FPS increased.
  • It will not affect in any way the gaming experience or the response speed.

Error correction

  • Fixed a rare server error caused by packets being corrupted when circulating on some players' networks.
  • Cypher's Spy Chamber will no longer be able to use weapons.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally caused audible footsteps not to appear on the minimap.
