Valve is confident that there will be more Half-Life in the future

Although the company makes it subject to the reception of Half-Life: Alyx, the new virtual reality game, they are open to continue with the saga.

The desired eternal has not returned. Indeed, Half-Life 3 is not Valve's next production, but that does not necessarily mean that the future will not bring us big surprises. If the third installment materializes or we will not find out later, but Valve's intention is to continue with the saga. This is stated by David Speyrer, team member, in an interview with The Verge. The studio has just announced Half-Life: Alyx, a completely new chapter designed for virtual reality.

The journalist has asked him a very specific question: “Does this mean a total return of the saga? Should we wait any longer? And Speyrer has answered the following: “Yes. It is probably not a surprise that many Valve people have been waiting to return to the Half-Life universe for a long time, and this experience has only reinforced it. ” According to the creative, in the creative process of Half-Life: Alyx, they have explored new ways to “tell stories” with the characters in the world of video games. "We've found a lot of new gameplay mechanics that go beyond what we had seen before."

Of course, the door is ajar, it will only open wide when the studio observes how people react when they try Half-Life: Alyx. "But we would love to continue forward," Spyrer concludes.

Why in virtual reality?

The new installment of this saga is not designed for VR by chance. In fact, its developers argue that the video game was already a virtual reality experience before it was decided even if it was going to be a Half-Life. It was also considered using the Portal saga, but it was finally discarded because they considered that the latter's formula was not too appropriate, since it could make you dizzy. Instead, the classic Valve offered the perfect ingredients to become an immersive experience without sacrificing the health of the players.

Half-Life: Alyz will be available on Steam from March 2020. It will work with all virtual reality helmets designed for PC.
