Gabe Newell, CEO of the company, reflects on his next video game, which marks the return of one of the video game's most successful sagas.
The blue pill or the red pill? The first will transport you to the world of the Matrix; the second will chain you to the real universe. To travel to the worlds of Half-Life: Alyx you will have to put on any of the virtual reality helmets compatible with Steam VR, since the new installment of the veteran saga is played in VR and only in VR. Gabe Newell, CEO of Valve, recently chatted with IGN and compared his video game to the movie Matrix, a science fiction classic.
"We are closer to the Matrix than people imagine," says Newell. "It will not be Matrix because it is a film that leaves out all the interesting technical part and its subtleties." However, "it will have a huge impact on the kind of experiences we can create for people," he argues with conviction.

The future of technology
When it comes to technology design, perceiving the nature of the problems is "like trying to describe the Internet to someone who has not used it before." Newell thinks that sending information to the visual and motor cortex will be much easier than making people feel cold. "It just so happens that the brain has very good interfaces for some things" and very bad for others:
"The fact that your immune system is related to temperature perceptions means that there are all kinds of strange parts in the brain that have to do with feeling cold, while other aspects such as the motor or visual cortex are problems more manageable ”. Thus, according to the developer, they will learn a lot about what works and what does not, about the aspects that players value and those that are not worth it.
Gabe Newell is convinced of the importance of virtual reality. He believes that it will influence video games and any form of entertainment. "If you are in the entertainment business and you are not thinking about it, you will reflect on it a lot in the future," he says.
Half-Life: Alyx will be available for pre-download starting Friday. Its launch is scheduled for March 23 on PC. What time? At FreeGameTips we have prepared the detailed schedules for Spain and the Latin American territories, which you can consult at this link.
