Valve responds to E3: announced the Steam Games Festival for the month of June

The North American company presents its own alternative presentation of games in digital format for the dates of the canceled E3 2020.

Valve has announced a new edition of the Steam Games Festival; the one corresponding to the summer season. After a first edition in December and another last March, the so-called Steam Games Festival will return from March 9 to 14 with new announcements, release dates and downloadable playable demos for platform players.

With the collaboration of Geoff Keighley, promoter of The Game Awards, Steam will have its own alternative to the canceled E3 2020 not only due to the coincidence of dates, but also because some of the announcements that were being planned for the Angelina fair are now being transferred to this Festival of June Steam Games. The registers are already open to know more information and future details.

“The Steam Games Festival is an event that highlights the titles that will be released throughout the following year. Check out upcoming releases from June 9-14, try them out with demos or short game experiences available for a limited time, connect with the developers behind these games, and add them to your wish list to receive a reminder when they are launched ”, indicates the statement.

Developers also have the opportunity to join this great media showcase. Small to medium video game development teams may showcase their next video game in the absence. To participate you must send the demo of the title before April 24.

IGN Summer of Gaming, alternative to E3 2020

Regarding E3 2020, canceled due to the severity of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the organization of the event, ESA, tried to promote a digital alternative where the large companies in the sector would meet on the scheduled dates of the event. However, that idea has not borne fruit and there will be no E3 2020 in any way. IGN, one of the most important video game and entertainment media in North America, will proceed with its own digital event called Summer of Gaming, from which many announcements and surprises are expected; to highlight, the participation of companies such as 2K Games, Square Enix, SEGA, Bandai Namco, Amazon, Google Stadia, Twitter, Devolver Digital, THQ Nordic and more.
