Virtuous believes it can port "any game of this generation" to Nintendo Switch

The studio has specialized in adapting various PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video games to the hybrid console of those in Kyoto.

Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, The Outer Worlds, XCOM 2, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt … there are not a few current-generation video games that have come out or are going to be marketed on Nintendo Switch. Companies like Saber Interactive, Panic Button or Virtuous have become a kind of benchmark when it comes to bringing titles from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to the Kyoto machine. At that point, it is worth wondering if all the video games on these consoles could be transferred to Switch. In an interview with My Nintendo News, producer Zhang Chengwei of Virtuous is confident and argues that all products could be ported to the console.

"I would say we have spent half the year simply to optimize memory, and that we have used many methods throughout that period," says Chengwei. According to the producer, they have used "efficient formats" for the files and have eliminated the use of memory that they did not need. "We have even modified and optimized the original memory system of the console," he says in the interview.

Developer with extensive experience

Virtuous is one of the companies that has experimented the most with the Nintendo Switch hardware. Not surprisingly, his are the adaptations of Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Dark Souls: Remastered, The Outer Worlds or the upcoming XCOM 2. “Now we have no doubt that the adaptations to Switch can work for any game of the current generation of consoles. The more games we develop for the Switch, the more we improve and the more we can squeeze the hardware, "concludes Chengwei.

Nintendo Switch will not only feed on third party titles in the coming months. Although Mario's have been relatively silent, on May 29 they will release Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, which has already confirmed the resolution in which it works. Surprised and without a Nintendo Direct involved, the Japanese uncovered Paper Mario: The Origami King, available on June 17.
