Impressive Greening 143 Laps Ahead
Starting from pole, Aitken, accompanied by Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti, governed the race, claiming 143 of the 182 laps during the final leg of the Michelin Endurance Cup season. The trio’s swift pace left rivals trailing as the #31 Whelen Cadillac V‑Series.R led the GTP field throughout the race’s majority.
Despite the advantage, the last 90 minutes introduced instability as differing pit stop strategies shuffled positions ahead of a yellow caution. Aitken noted that a fuel advantage kept the crew in reach, allowing them to stay close to any leading cars and conserve oil.
Pit‑Wall Precision Amid Nine Cautions
During an event that featured nine full‑course cautions, the team relied on a perfectly timed pit sequence. The strategy opened a gap that Aitken leveraged, securing a comfortable buffer during the final stint.
The driver stayed composed, focusing on clean laps, tire management, and traffic navigation. “You can’t predict the rain of yellow flags,” Aitken said, “so you have to stay ready for a sudden green run until the very end.”
Championship Leverage and Future Outlook
The victory not only capped the team’s second straight IMSA win but also extended their GTP class record to eight consecutive podiums. Aitken’s triumph granted him a 203‑point lead in the series, with a score of 2,145 compared to Porsche’s Laurin Heinrich at 1,942.
