Heat and pace at Lone Star Le Mans
The Austin track was already high in the sun, with an ambient temperature near 33 °C, and teams used the 60‑minute session to fine‑tune setup ahead of the afternoon’s qualifying.
Tincknell’s time narrowly outshone Mathieu Jaminet’s #19 Genesis by just 0.004 s, while Jack Aitken’s #38 Jota Cadillac slipped into third, trailing by roughly two tenths of a second.
Ferrari challenges and incidents
Antonio Giovinazzi’s #51 499P proved the quickest Ferrari, a hard‑tyre lap ahead of his teammates by 0.465 s.
Phil Hanson’s #83 AF Corsè car collided with Peter Dempsey’s Corvette. Senior driver Nicklas Nielsen suffered a left‑rear puncture and damage after touching Ben Tuck’s Ford from behind.
The AF Corsè satellite entry finished seventh, while the #50 finished tenth, 0.7 s off the lead.
#09 Aston Martin and #12 Cadillac completed the top five. #7 Toyota took eighth place, ahead of #94 Peugeot, which spun in the first sector. Alpine and BMW trailed more than a second behind the leaders.
LMGT3 leadership and pace
Francois Heriau powered the #21 296 GT3 to the fastest time in the LMGT3 class, 2m05.731s, edging Iron Lynx Mercedes by 0.138 s and Ford‑Proton by 0.232 s.
The Heart of Racing‑entered Aston Martin Vantages occupied fourth and sixth places, separated by the #10 Garage 59 McLaren. Proton Ford’s #88 finishing seventh, 0.4 s off, followed by the #54 Ferrari.
#69 WRT BMW and #78 ASUS Lexus sat in a tight top‑10, with Manthey Porsche and TF Sport Corvette further down the order.
