Xbox Scarlett is already in the plans of The Coalition, parents of Gears 5

Matt Searcy reflects on how the first months are going after the launch of the fifth installment and look beyond.

Gears 5 is one of the best video games of the current generation of Microsoft consoles, Xbox One, as we conclude in our Reviews. The fifth iteration of the saga, also available on PC, has laid the foundations for the future of the license, which will continue to expand soon on Xbox Project Scarlett, something that The Coalition already thinks.

The studio, in the voice of its campaign design director, Matt Searcy, has chatted with GamingBolt about the stories they want to tell players in the future. And yes, Gears 5 can be played on Xbox Project Scarlett through backward compatibility, as stated in E3 2019, but now reconfirms the study in charge of the title.

Beyond Gears 5: many stories yet to be told

“We always have an idea of the story we want to tell in the long term; but it is important for us to have a negativo negative space ’, so we are open to ideas and opportunities to accompany us during development,” he begins. Indeed, and without going into plot plundering, the method in which the Gears 5 campaign ends demonstrates the will to continue that story.

"Having such a robust IP and with that great story behind it makes it possible to tell other stories in multiple ways, so we are excited to continue to deepen that world and its characters," he continues. Searcy has not entered to detail a possible approximate release date of an eventual Gears 6, nor if this potential title is already in development.

When asked about Xbox Project Scarlett, the answer has been brief: “Gears 5 will be available on Xbox Projet Scarlett through backward compatibility; We have nothing more to share right now. ” In a meeting with FreeGameTips this past June, Jordan SilverThorne, Xbox senior product marketing, commented that “One of the things we have been working on and, in addition, we have announced, is that backward compatibility will be part of Project Scarlett. […] So yes, all the games of the four generations that are already available in the Xbox One catalog will be playable in the new Project Scarlett, ”repeated Silverthorne.

We remember that Microsoft will celebrate a new edition of Inside Xbox this November 14, date that coincides with the celebration of the Xbox FanFest 2019 to be held in Madrid, Spain. Hopefully there will be new announcements of the present and future of the brand, although we know little at the moment.
