Xbox Series X will arrive in Japan in 2020; they want to do "a much better job"

Microsoft has not had an easy time in Japan, where the sales of its consoles have always been residual.

The plans of Sony and Microsoft regarding their new consoles are revealed little by little. In the case of the Redmond ones, the company has launched a series of monthly information events, in which they will describe all the news that is to come. Already announced by Phil Spencer – head of the Xbox division – recently, the intention is to make a worldwide launch of his new Xbox Series X. Famitsu has learned that the machine will be marketed in Japan also in late 2020.

The North American giant has also revealed the first confirmed titles for the Japanese launch. In addition to Halo Infinite, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Scarlet Nexus and Bright Memory: Infinite will be part of the initial Xbox Series X catalog. On the other hand, Spencer himself has recognized that Xbox must do a better job in that territory. Speaking to Gamertag Radio, he said the following: “The Japanese Xbox market is important to us. Of course, Sony and Nintendo are strong Japanese companies that have done a great job. I don't know if we will win in Japan anytime soon, but the position we have there is not acceptable to me. ”

A new strategy in Japan

According to Spencer, they are going to do "a much better job" at the launch of Xbox Series X. Therefore, they are not going to wait "10 months" as in the case of Xbox One, which arrived in the West earlier. "We are going to make sure that services like Game Pass or xCloud are there for people to access." In another podcast, Talking Games, Spencer explained to Reggie Fils-Aimé, the former president of Nintendo of America, that despite the coronavirus, the production of Xbox Series X is going from strength to strength, so no supply problems are expected. As for the software, production proceeds without major problems.

Xbox Series X will go on sale at the end of 2020, although a more specific date has not yet been specified.
