Connected Futures runs a year after the events of the original game and offers a new perspective on what happened next.

As the launch of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition approaches, Nintendo is revealing new details on what's new in the title, a revamped version of the Wii classic. After publishing an unpublished image gallery, we receive information from the Japanese cards that are sold in stores and that include the access code to the digital version. Based on that data, the Connected Futures epilogue will add a new battle system and additional scenario.

"An unpublished story that connects with the future: includes an additional setting that reveals Melia's later story," reads the box. "A new battle system that uses Nopon reinforcements." At the same time, it refers to new maps, but it is not clear if it is spoken in the singular or plural, so we will have to wait and check when the game goes on sale, if Nintendo does not clarify it before.

Accessible from the start

Connected Futures is one of the most outstanding additions to the video game. Monolith Soft, the developers, have chosen to allow access from the beginning. This means that it will not be necessary to finish the main story (or even start it) in order to enjoy the outcome. Of course this is intended for those who have already completed the original, so it will be riddled with guts, as it could not be otherwise.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition will be released on May 29 exclusively for Nintendo Switch, both in digital and physical format. The game will improve its graphics and offer the possibility of playing with the original or remastered soundtrack. As for the content, everything that was present on Wii will also be in the remastering, although some special features of the Nintendo 3DS title have been left out.
