Xenoblade Chronicles: Wii vs Switch version

Video that shows the changes between one version and the other of the new game for Nintendo Switch, original from Wii.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is not a simple high definition remastering. For its relaunch on Switch, Monolith Soft has returned to the board and redrawn virtually every texture and polygon, completely revamping the look of the Titans that make up the gigantic world of gaming. As you can see in the following video, set exclusively in the prologue and the initial section (Colony 9) so as not to gut much at the moment, the visual impact is considerable although below it follows the same basis as on Wii.

In addition to the notable increase in sharpness and the best modeling, effects such as lighting or water have also been revised, and the soundtrack (one of the best in the genre) has been re-recorded with new chords like the one you can hear in the video itself .Although Definitive Edition not only pampers the aesthetic aspect: taking advantage of the occasion, Monolith Soft has also redesigned the combat interface, all the menus and the objective tracking in the missions to polish the gaming experience. About these tweaks and many others, as well as the unpublished content in the epilogue that opens in this edition (Connected Futures) we will speak in depth when we publish the pertinent Reviews at the end of the month.

In the meantime, let the video serve as a small sneak peek and also handy confirmation that the best Wii JRPG will soon be featured again in the Switch catalog. Monolith Soft and Nintendo may have participated in projects as ambitious as that in recent years (remember that in addition to Xenoblade X and Xenoblade 2, they created Breath of the Wild together), but the first Xenoblade still has something to contribute to the conversation, in addition to serving as an ideal entry point for those who did not start almost a decade ago.
