After years of absence, the creative has finally published the third installment, although he already thinks about the following chapters of the series.
Shenmue 3 has not been the end point, or at least that is what Yu Suzuki, veteran developer and father of a saga that has already accessed in the territory of the classics. The Japanese has said on other occasions that he has material to continue prolonging the story of Ryo Hazuki with more deliveries, even in the game itself, where he has left a message in which he states that “he will never give up on the saga”. However, the Japanese has clarified his intentions in a letter collected by VGC.
“As long as there are people who want to continue living Shenmue, I will never give up on my personal journey of completing this story,” Suzuki wrote, “As with Shenmue 3, the story is with you. Sincerely, I hope that, together, we can continue the story of Ryo and his adventures in Shenmue 4 ”.
The argument is not complete
It is not strange that he wishes to continue, but taking into account that Yu Suzuki himself confirmed that after the publication of the third installment, there will still be more than half of the open arc in the first Shenmue, more than twenty years ago. If the Dreamcast classic, now also on current platforms, come back or not, time will tell. Between Shenmue 2 and Shenmue 3 nothing more has happened and nothing less than 18 years.
Shenmue 3 began its journey at E3 2015, as part of the Sony event at the Los Angeles fair. During that same show, the relaunch of The Last Guardian and the highly anticipated remake of Final Fantasy VII, whose first episode will be published on March 3, were announced, if everything goes according to plan. Yu Suzuki's work, meanwhile, was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, although he later sealed an agreement with Deep Silver, the Koch Media label.
The game is available on PS4 and PC.
