Pokémon HOME: how to get free Magearna color Vetusto

Apart from the five free Pokémon that we already knew through the service, we reviewed how to get hold of this unique creature.

Beyond the five free Pokémon that we can get through Pokémon HOME, during this weekend numerous players have reported obtaining via Mysterious Gift of Magearna Vetusto color. We have been evaluating all possible options to achieve this, which are the following.

The Pokémon Company app gains interest for those who have in mind to complete the Pokédex with all existing creatures. Yes, the 890 currently available in the app. That is, if we register in the application the absolute totality of Pokémon, we will receive Megearna Vetusto color (not to be confused with the shiny form) without needing to be Premium Plan (for a fee). At the moment, it is being distributed in two different alternative colors.

Two colors found: two alternative forms of Magearna

It is not easy, however, because through Pokémon Sword and Shield we can catch, without resorting to parallel games, a total of 400 species. Thus, there are about half a thousand that we must transfer through the Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee. This includes the species that we can only catch in the Generation IV, V, VI and VII editions (the first two, via Poké Translator with the Pokémon Bank; the second two, from the Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME, an unavoidable step in any case).

Although there are players who have reported receiving this form of Magearna with other methods, we have not been able to contrast them to verify their veracity.

New singular Pokémon on February 27

To get an idea, Magearna falls into the category of Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Marshadow, Zeraora and Meltan.

In addition, this next February 27 we will know the identity of a new singular Pokémon, the first announced within the eighth generation; although that does not confirm that it will belong to the Pokédex of this generation (as Meltan during Gen VII). We don't know the name of that Pokémon, only we can get it in Sword and Shield through an unknown distribution method. This week the complete silhouette was revealed.

Remember that all Pokémon Sword and Shield holders can add 35 new creatures to their regional Pokédex by Galar thanks to Pokémon HOME; which add up to the original 400 species originally available in the games.

Pokémon HOME is now available on Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android mobile devices. In order to resolve all doubts, we have published an article explaining what is free and what is paid.
