Cyberpunk 2077, playable on Nvidia GeForce Now since launch

The cloud service of the technology company recently lost Activision games due to a "misunderstanding."

The new CD Projekt RED will also be played in streaming. It is not something new, since the Polish company had previously announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be available on Google Stadia. However, it will not be the only cloud platform that visits Night City. Nvidia has announced that the production will be available from the launch day on its platform, GeForce Now, which came out of the beta period recently and can now be tested with all its features activated.

"Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on GeForce Now on launch day," the company wrote in the official forum. "GeForce Now users will be able to use their copy of Steam and play as soon as it is available." Nvidia has also explained that players who are subscribed to the Founders plan will have the opportunity to "explore the streets of Night City with RTX activated, fully optimized and available at the moment, even on your Mac laptop."

What happened with Activision?

Activision games, including Overwatch or Call of Duty: Black Ops IV, were removed from the service, as Nvidia herself acknowledged. At that time, no explanations were given, but the company came up with rumors and confirmed that it had been a misunderstanding. As the creators of Call of Duty collaborated during the beta period, they were convinced that once it was made available to all players, Activision games would continue to be linked to the service. However, it was a "misunderstanding," because the Americans had not given their permission to keep the video games.

"Activision Blizzard has been a fantastic partner during the GeForce Now beta," Nvidia said in a statement. "After recognizing the misunderstanding, we eliminate their games from the service in the hope of being able to include these and others in the future."

Nvidia GeForce Now uses the library of digital stores to run the games through its streaming service. Therefore, if you have a title that is in the catalog of the platform, you will have the opportunity to reproduce it in the cloud. There is a free plan, which has the disadvantage that it is logged every hour. On the other hand, the monthly subscription (5.49 euros) can be enjoyed without limitations and with benefits, such as the possibility of activating RTX. In addition, there is a 90-day trial period.
