Doom Eternal renounces Deathmatch mode because "it is eons old"

Bethesda recalls that in the 2016 video game, players felt disconnected because the campaign and multiplayer were seen as different products.

The new installment of the id Software slayer has a classic flavor, but it is renewed enough to offer new experiences within this infernal universe. Doom Eternal, however, doesn't feature Deathmatch multiplayer, something that Bethesda's Pete Hines has tried to justify. In an interview with Shacknews, the manager commented that from his point of view, this modality is very old, so they have chosen a different path.

“This mode is eons old. We don't want to do something just to do it or because it has always been a certain way, "explains Hines. "The biggest problem we had with Doom 2016 was that (the multiplayer) was not developed by id and it felt disconnected from the base game by everyone who loved it." According to their words, what they want is for players to see it as a unified product. What happens with the Deathmatch, he says, is that when entering the battlefield there is no demon: "It is simply Deathmatch." In short, he suggests turning the page.

Google Stadia, no real 4K

At the moment, no one at id Software has spoken about one of the news that came out days ago. After promising that the Google Stadia version would work at true 4K resolution, the official specifications stated that they will not meet that goal, at least initially. According to that information, the resolution will be rescaled, although it will not give up 60 frames per second.

Doom Eternal will go on sale next March 20 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia. It will take longer for the Nintendo Switch version, which like the previous installment, has been adapted by Panic Button, a study specialized in the hybrid of those in Kyoto that has already transferred great games from the present generation to the system. Although Bethesda has not yet informed about the release date, the videogame producer himself, Marty Stratton, assured that the port will be surprising.
