Apparently Mafia II: Definitive Edition in planning (update)

Playfront

No brand new mafia, but a new edition of ‘Mafia II’, which will obviously appear as a definitive edition, is currently being worked on at 2K Games.

This emerges from an age test on the Korean rating board (via), where the title is listed for PS4 and Xbox One. This should be a remaster, as Mafia II was originally released for the previous generation PS3, Xbox360.

Mafia II told an epic story about the world of the mafia. With the 40s and 50s, MAFIA II spanned two of the most dazzling decades of the 20th century. Explore the city to the sound of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra in over 50 classic vehicles from this era – over 120 originally licensed songs from the 40s and 50s sound from the speakers of your radio, while you learn the dark machinations of the Italian-American mafia shops takes over.

Update: The rating board in Taiwan now lists a Mafia II: Definitive Edition for PS4 and Xbox One, as well as the Mafia III: Definitive Edition, which has not been announced yet.

Evidence of Mafia IV?

Why 2K is relaunching Mafia II again, raises some speculation. You may want to continue the original Mafia story in Mafia IV, which is rumored to be in the works. With a remaster of Mafia II you could catch up again, at least for those who have never played the gangster epic.

At the moment, however, only pure speculation about it.
