The Last of Us: Part II & Marvel’s Iron Man postponed, statement by Naughty Dog (update)

So now! Due to the corona pandemic, Sony has postponed its two blockbusters ‘The Last of Us: Part II’ and ‘Marvel’s Iron Man’, both of which should be released in May.

This emerges from a short message on Twitter, which says:

“YOU made the difficult decision to postpone the release of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel’s Iron Man VR until further notice. Logistically speaking, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the release experience our players deserve. ”

When The Last of Us: Part II and Marvel’s Iron Man will be released is initially unclear. The postponement initially applies indefinitely. Further information should follow!

Statement from Naughty Dog

Developer Naughty Dog has since commented on the shift and confirmed that the development of The Last of Us: Part II is almost complete. The survival adventure could have been released in May as planned. At the moment, only the finishing touches are being devoted.

As already mentioned by Sony, it is mainly logistical problems that prevent the release in May. You want to make sure that everyone can play the game at the same time and that everyone has the best experience possible. As soon as you can solve the problems in logistics, you aim for a new release date.

But one could also understand that many are now disappointed, purely in terms of fairness, but a postponement is the best possible decision at this time. One hopes that the release can take place as soon as possible.

Update: It remains to be seen whether other titles from Sony such as Ghost of Tsushima will also move. In any case, according to Sony, as I will now mention again.

As a small compensation, there are a few new screenshots from The Last of Us: Part II.
