CrossfireX: the creators of Control, "very happy" to return to work with Microsoft

Remedy Entertainment works on the campaign of a game as successful as unknown in Europe, a shooter similar to Counter Strike.

After publishing Quantum Break, the agreement between Remedy Entertainment and Microsoft expired, so the Finnish developer returned to practice as a totally independent studio. Under the umbrella of 505 Games they published Control, their most recent title, which is nominated for several 2019 The Game Awards, including the Best Game of the Year award. However, his next project, which will reach Xbox One and PC, is nothing more and nothing less than the campaign mode of CrossfireX, a game completely unknown in the Old Continent. This project also marks a new collaboration with Microsoft.

To develop the title, the study led by Sam Lake works closely with SmileGate, but also with those of Redmond, as the title comes out on Xbox One and PC. In an interview with Eurogamer, they recalled that the collaboration agreement is with SmileGate, only that this company has also partnered with Microsoft.

"We started with a developer-developer relationship with SmileGate," explains the study, in the mouth of Tuukka Taipalvesi. “That has been the crimp for us for most of the time. Afterwards, SmileGate joined Microsoft in a collaboration. We are very happy to work with these uncles again, because we have many friends ”who still work at Redmond.

An X019 with new IP

Remedy's project was unveiled during X019, the Microsoft event dedicated to the Xbox brand. The American company took the opportunity to announce some of the new intellectual properties that will come under the umbrella of Xbox Game Studios. For starters, the IP that Rare is preparing, whose previous video game, Sea of Thieves, will continue to receive support. After announcing Everwild, it was Obsidian's turn, who prepares Grounded.

Microsoft is currently focusing on its next-generation console, Project Scarlett, which will be accompanied by all the services that orbit the brand.
