Xbox Trust: “We have an advantage with Project Scarlett”

The American giant is convinced of the possibilities of the console, which will be launched at Christmas 2020 with at least the expected Halo: Infinite.

The present generation of consoles is nearing its end and, with it, the incipient beginning of the next. Microsoft and Sony have it all ready with Xbox Project Scarlett and PlayStation 5, a road map where, in the case of the former, trust seems to be total.

Backward compatibility, a bulwark for the ecosystem

After an X019 held in London in early November, the brand led by Phil Spencer left on the table new intellectual properties such as Rare's Everwild, Grounded from Obsidian and Tell Me Why in Dontnod. The promise is to launch between "four or five" exclusive a year, a strategy with which Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, feels really comfortable.

"We want you to know when you invest on Xbox that you can bring back all that legacy content library," he says in relation to the already confirmed backward compatibility. “For that reason we believe that we have an advantage with Xbox Project Scarlett, because our goal is that any game that runs on Xbox One can also run on Scarlett. It is not a transfer to a different operating system; It is not a transfer to an API with different graphics: you just run an Xbox game, ”he insists, reoccurring in the concept of ecosystem that they often refer to. "We hope this is a great advantage in regards to our initial content library" at Christmas 2020.

Recently we also learned that the exclusive cross-gen games that are launched on the current Microsoft machine when Scarlett arrives at the stores will be updated free of charge when it passes to the successor.

It should be added that before the end of 2020 we will have news of some of his next games; maybe at the gala of The Game Awards to be held in a couple of weeks. Games like Battletoads, Age of Epires IV, Halo: Infinite, Wasteland 3, Psychonauts 2, Bleeding Edge, Flight Simulator, Gears Tactics, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Minecraft Dungeons and the other three recent announcements mentioned are the candidates to be shown soon.

Xbox Project Scarlett

This same month of November we had the opportunity to speak with Phil Spencer, leader of the Microsoft video game department, who told us about how they face the future of the brand in Spain and did not hesitate to recognize the possible mistakes made in the past.
