Results Black Friday: the best-selling games and consoles in the United Kingdom

Companies like Electronic Arts, Activision, Nintendo and Microsoft are the big winners on a black Friday of great international success.

Black Friday 2019 comes to an end. What is already a full week of discounts and offers has once again splashed the video game industry with great success; although with less force than in 2018, at least in the United Kingdom, as reflected in the latest GfK / UKIE report, where they take stock of these black Friday days in consoles and titles.

1.3 million video games are those that are counted in the United Kingdom in the period from November 25 to December 30, six days where the figure is 22% below what was achieved a year ago, symptomatic that the generation begins to to weaken and that the installed park of consoles is touching ceiling.

PS4, the console with the most sold games; FIFA 20, the great winner

PlayStation 4 was the big winner of Black Friday in the British Isles in terms of games sold with 500,000 titles (37% below a year ago in the same period). Xbox One did nothing wrong if we compare it with the market share of the Microsoft system, with 413,112 titles sold (a drop of 26.7%). Nintendo Switch, despite being the fashionable hardware, has not managed to implement so much software during this week and stays at 361,967 games (an improvement of 44%), another indication also that the hybrid console is still in the process of expanding in this country and that these figures may still be far exceeded in the future.

FIFA 20 was, to the surprise of few, the best selling video game. The United Kingdom is one of the homes of football and the Electronic Arts license is there emblem, as in Spain. This has resulted in a 226% increase in weekly sales, although this time it was in a pack with PlayStation 4 and it is impossible to calibrate the actual sales at will that would have been encrypted if it was not in bundle. In any case, great results for the football simulator.

As they were for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is in second place and improves its weekly sales by 86%. Jedi Star Wars: Fallen Order stays the bronze medal (it had pack with Xbox One) and grows 32% with respect to the previous week.

If we stick to the bundles, Xbox One was the most aggressive with that pack of Xbox One S – All Digital Edition for 119 pounds along with three games: Sea of Thieves, Minecraft and Fortnite content. This has resulted in Sea of Thieves climbing to fourth place in the ranking of best-selling games of the week of Black Friday.

In Sony, the reduction of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 stands out, which rises to the thirteenth place in an increase of no less than 691% over the previous week. In Nintendo, finally, the lack of interest discounts were not an obstacle to continue having the highest representation of the Top-10, which for some analysts is a victory over: Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Minecraft Switch Edition in the last five positions of said top.
