Aston Martin is rolling out a revamped Valkyrie LMH in preparation for its 2027 World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Campaign.
Early Build‑Up Tests
On Monday and Tuesday, the marque and partner The Heart of Racing launched an initial set of upgrades at Hinton Airfield in the UK. By Wednesday, the upgraded prototype performed a full‑scale test at Silverstone, where works drivers—including Harry Tincknell—were seen behind the wheel. The car was painted in a semi‑camouflage palette of green, black, light blue, and blue chequered stripes. “Valkyrie – The Sound of Evolution,” read the caption on the photos released, a nod to the naturally‑aspirated V12 that has already earned fan acclaim.
Targeted Development and Future Run‑Ins
Senior principal Ian James and Aston Martin’s management confirmed that the updates will be built around “evo joker” concepts—targeted aerodynamic tweaks informed by data collected from the 2025 championship debut. Subsequent testing will take place in Austin on 9 September (alongside Ferrari and Genesis) and in Aragon on 15 September. From October into November, the team will employ the Windshear wind tunnel to gather technical data and finalize homologation requirements for all prototypes.
Championship Positioning
At the time of the announcement, Aston Martin sits sixth in the WEC manufacturers’ standings, a point behind Alpine, the most seasoned rival in the category. In IMSA’s GTP class, the brand occupies the fifth and final spot, having entered the field with a single entry. Looking ahead, the 2027 WEC will see new entrants Ford and McLaren, while the elimination of Acura will reduce the IMSA GTP field to four manufacturers.
