The original BioWare games have already explored those mechanics, although Larian Studios has some different ideas about it.
The presentation of Baldur's Gate 3 has given rise to numerous information about the video game, a title that FreeGameTips has already tested in depth and has just revealed the contents of its early access. The new Larian Studios will also incorporate the romances, one of the mechanics that BioWare has popularized, especially in its latest franchises, Dragon Age and Mass Effect. On the other hand, the developer has pointed to the possibility that the game does not work in the current generation of consoles.
"Every time you make an important decision or even secondary decisions, (the characters) will react to them," David Walgrave, executive producer, told Twinfinite. “They will begin to react to other characters in the group as well. The moments in the camp are equally very important. You can select who to talk to, and in the camp, there will of course be romances. ”
The idea is that these relationships occur in an organic way, that they feel more real and away from the "I have got this person," as Adam Smith, screenwriter, pointed out to VG24 / 7. “We want to be jealous. Let us have a good time with this too. But yes, we don't want a case of 'you buy a gift that I like very much, so you gain 50 points of affection.' ” According to Smith, it's more based on how you face the situation and the things you do. As if that were not enough, all partners may be the object of our romantic interest.
And the current generation of consoles?
Producer David Walgrave has chatted with Eurogamer in another interview and highlighted the difficulties of Baldur's Gate 3 coming out on current systems. "I don't think current generation systems are able to make it work," he begins. "There are a lot of technical improvements and updates we have made to our engine, so I don't know if (these systems) would be able to move that." On the possibility of launching on Nintendo Switch, the team has already expressed reasonable doubts, although they did not close the doors at all.
Baldur's Gate 3, however, has not been announced for consoles. The game will be available in early access throughout this year, on PC and Google Stadia. At the moment the launch date has not been announced, since the development process will continue as players send their feedback, as happened with Divinity: Original Sin 2.
