Carson Ho Cervevelt’s Daytona run ended in a wreck when an aggressive low‑line maneuver lost him control near the end of the Coke Zero Sugar 400, sending him and Erik Jones into the wall.
In‑Race Chaos
With only a handful of laps remaining, the No. 77 drove the low line to pass Ryan Preece. The move pushed the car into a spin that slammed Ho Cervev into the wall. Erik Jones was also thrown into the wreck as the caution flag rolled out.
Driver’s Reflection
Ho Cervev explained that the nose of his car generated more lift, making the low line decision riskier than expected. “I felt I needed to make a move to the bottom, just like we did earlier to stay in front,” he said. “The nose kept setting and I couldn’t get the wheel out fast enough.” He described the package as “fine” and admitted it didn’t affect the top contenders.
Season Impact
He had climbed to third in the standings a month ago, but finished 38th at Daytona and 30th or worse in three of the final four races. Ho Cervev starts the Chase in 12th of the 16 point‑eligible drivers, tightening his path to a championship.
