Citroen Formula E team principal Cyril Blais passed away at 46, as announced in a joint statement from Citroen, Stellantis, Monaco Sports Group and Formula E.

The statement withheld any details about the death, citing respect for the family’s privacy. Managing director Beth Paretta said the team was “deeply saddened” and would honour Blais by continuing to race with the same dedication he inspired.
From Engineer to Principal
Blais began in the Formula 1 support ladder, working through Manor Motorsport and Arden, eventually becoming technical director in F3 and F2. In 2019 he became a race engineer for Mahindra’s Formula E effort, later joining the MSG‑run Venturi squad in 2022 with Maximilian Guenther. He rose to team principal in 2024 and guided the transition to Citroen, yielding victories in Mexico City and two other races.
Season Outlook and Uncertain Leadership
Citroen sits seventh in the teams’ standings with only four races remaining across Tokyo and London double‑headers. The Stellantis marque will compete in the Gen 4 era from Jeddah in December. It remains unknown who will assume Blais’ responsibilities for the upcoming Tokyo E‑Prix.
