In Valor Mortis, blocked red doors can now be cleared by shooting the neon‑red blobs that gate the way.
Getting the Pistol early enough to hit the first blob
Advance beyond the first dialogue with General Lothaire into the Valley of Ashes. Follow the left‑hand turn onto the road that leads to the cliff‑edge plank.
Leap from the raised plank to land on a platform on the opposite side, then turn left toward a lone lantern and a hostile Risen Grenadier.
Defeat or sidestep the Grenadier and press past the lantern until the next corridor contains a stuck carriage. Open it to retrieve the pistol.
Exit to the next lantern, then retrace the main path to reach the first heavily guarded red door. Equipping the pistol allows you to shoot every red blob that blocks the door.
Using the Rapier once the pistol is out of reach
Later, the Rapier can be found in the same area. Equip it, then strike any red blob that appears within melee range.
Farming the Rapier’s pulls around the same blocks is an efficient alternative if you prefer not to run back for the pistol.
Optimizing travel and revisiting the first door
After acquiring the pistol, a Fast Travel marker appears near the first locked door, eliminating the need to backtrack manually.
If you wish to clear that initial blob post‑acquisition, re‑enter the level with the fast travel option or walk back by following the main corridor.
By employing either weapon correctly, the red doors that once halted progression in Valor Mortis can be swiftly opened and the chase toward the next objective resumed.
