Embark Studios has rolled out a surprise event in the 1.33.0 patch, injecting fresh content for players weary of routine gameplay. The Forgotten Relics event invites participants to mine for rare trinkets across the map, converting earned XP into Merits that unlock a treasure trove of free gear.
How to Earn Merits: XP and Trinkets
Merits are gained by turning in earned XP from combat, looting, and successful extractions to Speranza. Every 100 XP translates into one Merit, establishing a straightforward conversion plan.
Alternatively, players can hunt nine newly introduced relics, each delivering variable XP. Prime locations include Dam Battlegrounds and Buried City, where residential complexes and research facilities conceal the most valuable items. The Merit payoff for each relic is listed below.

As Merits accumulate, the event unlocks a tiered reward list. Below is the structured progression from the baseline 15,000 XP requirement up to the cap at 300,000 XP, culminating in the coveted Saltwalker outfit and other lootable items.

The Forgotten Relics event ends on July 27, 2026, giving participants 41 days to grind XP, haul trinkets, and capture every layer of rewards. The aggregate of these efforts not only furnishes the entire Saltwalker gear set but also provides an abundance of Raider Tokens, all obtainable for free.
